Japan’s commitment to lifting hydrogen use in the transport sector has been highlighted in new online coverage of Toyota’s ambitious plans.

Gearhead Glam, a YouTube channel that showcases latest developments in the auto industry, reveals Toyota’s commitment to hydrogen fuelling stations worldwide, and the Japanese Government’s push to have 800,000 hydrogen-fuelled vehicles on its roads by the end of the decade.
”It could change the future of cars forever,” says the show’s host.
The 8min segment delves into Toyota’s development of a hydrogen combustion engine, which would have a longer range and quicker refueling times than current low-carbon electric vehicles.
”While everyone else is focussed on EVs, Toyota is moving in a different direction, one that could make gasoline, diesel and electric cars a thing of the past,” the show says. A zero-emissions hydrogen fleet ”could be the breakthrough we’ve been waiting for”.
It says Toyota aims to have a full line-up of hydrogen vehicles on the market by 2030 — including domestic cars, commercial trucks and even race cars.
In testing of a Corolla-cross, a 5kg load of hydrogen delivered an 800km trip with the only emissions being water.
